Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome! We’re here to make every endeavor to help you have a great vacation experience. Please contact us with questions and concerns not addressed below.
Homeowners provide the priviledge and opportunity to stay in their private home for your visit to Manzanita. By showing respect and care for the home during your stay and upon departure, you will contribute to keeping costs to a minimum for your future visits to Manzanita. Thank you for considering Manzanita Rental Company. We look forward to serving you!
Do you charge a “processing fee” on top of the other fees like some of the other guys? Manzanita Rental Company does not charge a processing fee. The fees you see listed for each property are what you pay. No surprises.
Can I book a home online? We have an online reservation wizard that allows you to see which dates are open for each home and BEGIN the booking process by reserving available dates. After reserving the dates for the home you want via the reservation wizard, you must call one of our agents within 48 hours to complete the booking process and make a payment. Our agents will make every effort to contact you, but if no contact is made with us within that 48 hour window, the reserved dates will be canceled.
Also understand that the homes have to be cleaned between occupancies, so during our busy summer, on certain days a home will be unavailable for booking so it can be cleaned.
Is there a minimum? 2 nights.
What are the rate “seasons”? Winter Rates apply October 1st to April 30th. Summer Rates apply May 1st to September 30th.
How soon do I get my security deposit back after departure? We take an imprint of your Visa, Mastercard, or Discover card upon check-in for the security deposit (or we will hold a money order). After your departure and the home is secured, if the policies were followed and there is no damage or missing inventory, your card information (or money order) is shredded.
Can I clean the house myself and avoid the cleaning fee? The cleaning fee charged for each home is to prepare the home for your arrival, not to clean the home upon departure. It is non-refundable.
Can I bring my pet? Many of our homes allow pets. (See pets sub-directory page). There is an additional fee of $15 per pet, per night. Pet limits vary by house. Please clean up after your pet before you leave.
Do you have any houses that allow smoking inside? Not at the present time.
What about WiFi access in Manzanita? Some of our homes have high-speed WiFi / Internet service (included in rental fee) and are listed in our WiFi sub-directory page. Please check the detail descriptions carefully. There is also a Cyber Cafe in Manzanita on 2nd and Laneda streets. The Library also has internet service.
Do you have any homes that are handicap accessible? See our handicap accessible sub-directory page.
Are the linens and pillows and towels available at the home? Bed linens and bath towels are in the home. Please bring your own beach towels and bar soap for the shower. Please wash the sheets, pillow cases, bath and kitchen towels and other laundry before leaving. If the home does not have laundry facilities, we will take care of it.
What “necessities” do I need to bring or purchase locally? Please bring (or purchase locally) facial tissues, napkins, paper towels and other disposable paper goods you wish to use. Bring your own beach towels and bar soap. Kitchens are stocked with basic cooking ware, some more extensively than others (and so mentioned in description). The property description details will specify whether firewood is provided or not for those homes with wood stoves or wood-burning fireplaces. Also, please bring any special equipment you need for your small children and infants (play pens, high chairs, door gates, etc.)
How early can I arrive? When is the latest time I can leave on departure day? You can get into your rental home anytime after 4 p.m., although that may be delayed during high-occupancy times. If you arrive before four and your home is ready, we can check you in early. Please complete your departure activities (laundry, trash removal, dishes) and be loaded to depart by 11:00 a.m.
What do we do with the garbage? Please carry it out of the house and place it in the outside trash containers.
What is the minimum stay? Two nights minimum rental for all our homes, with exceptions made for some holidays, with a week minimum required July through Labor Day, with exceptions. Please see the policies and procedures page for more information about minimums, free nights, seasonal blocks, exceptions, and seasonal fees.

by December 31st, with the balance due 60 days before arrival. If you cancel the reservation, the $100 fee is forfeited.
